Fashion is no longer for the elite!

When did I realize social media had really hit the big time in the elite world of high fashion?

When Bryanboy sat front row during the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010 fashion show along with Anna Wintour.
Who is Bryanboy, you ask?
He is a gay Filipino fashion blogger from Manila. His blog is a personal journal with an emphasis on fashion. His main goal is to "entertain and, hopefully, inspire" its readers.

I first found Bryanboy while perusing Perez Hilton for my daily dose of trashy celebrity gossip. I can't remember what made me pay attention to the list of links on the side panel, and why of all the links I chose to click Bryanboy. But I did. And I instantly fell in love with his snarky quips and hilariously self-posed photo shoots.

To a girl who loves fashion but certainly doesn't have the budget for pricey designer labels, Bryanboy is a breath of fresh air. Yes, he has money. But not an excessive amount. He occasionally whines about his dwindling bank account despite his need for the latest Lanvin tee. He is fabulous and he is creative. And you did it Bryanboy- you are inspiring.

So imagine my delight when after reading his blog for years, my dear Bryanboy is catapulted into the international arena.

Bryanboy has had his name in the spotlight before the snapshot of him sitting one seat away from Anna Wintour was plastered all over every fashion publication- print and online. Marc Jacobs named the BB ostrich bag after the blogger gushed about it. Since, they have formed an unlikely friendship.

Bryanboy describes himself as an outsider peeking in to the world of the fashion elite.

Well, BB, you've made it. You are a bonafide fashion darling.

If this isn't one of the best examples of using social media to get yourself noticed globally, well, I challenge you to find a better one.

In the words of my beloved Bryanboy- BABOOSH!
