That being said, I've certainly stumbled upon a few Chatroulette videos that have caught my attention and made me think about it's connection to PR.
Example #1: Merton freestyles in real-time with strangers on Chatroulette and his videos go viral.
Example #2: As a tribute to Merton, Ben Folds improvises songs with a live audience and tailors each one to whoever pops up on his Chatroulette screen.
Has Chatroulette become the new medium to promote oneself just as youtube has been for a while now? I think this fad will stick around for a little bit longer and people will have fun with it as a means to promote themselves and their talents but the trend will die down quickly. But I could be wrong and Chatroulette might take on a life of it's own for a more extended period of time. Who knows?
One thing is for sure, you won't catch me using it. This is one social medium that I'll pass over.
